Expanding our Definition of Success

Seeing many patients at my clinic I have come to the realization that we must expand our definition of success. For many, success is monetary. The more money you have or make, the more successful you are. However, many of these people come into my clinic with severe health issues. Now my definition of success is being happy with my career, having leisure time for friends, exercising and monetary gain. Unfortunately, when we put too much weight on one aspect of our lives, something is going to be deficient or become lacking. I see many people who work hard and are quite wealthy, but there

relationship with their partner is suffering, or they don’t see their kids or family. And of course, many of these people are having health issues now because they are overworked and stressed. So expanding our definition of success means we have a balanced life. Our career and jobs is just one aspect of our lives. Don’t forget your family, partner, health, and children. That is living a harmonious life.
