The War on Raw Milk – Video Included

Despite the rhetoric coming from the FDA, raw milk is not a harmful substance.  Basically, it comes down to profits.  The Dairy Industry in the 1950′s wanted to grab more market share and homogenization and pasteurization was the key into making that happen.  Homogenization and Pasteurization had more to do with giving milk a longer shelf life and travel longer distances without spoiling rather than safety.  That way the Dairy Industry can sell processed milk at a cheaper price to more people.  If you’ve ever had raw milk, you’ll know that their is a huge difference compared to processed milk.  Initially, the American people weren’t big fans of processed milk, but eventually, the American people fell for it.

So eventually the money the Dairy Industry made in selling us crappy milk was used to lobby congress to make raw milk illegal.  Under the guise of safety of course.  Now you would have no choice except to drink their crappy factory made milk.  Its great for a few corporations, but bad for us (including the small farmer).  I remember how much milk used to bother my stomach.  That is until I went back to visit the country of my birth, Ethiopia.  One of the most interesting things I observed in Ethiopia was how if you had a stomach problem in Ethiopia, people drink milk to make it better.  In America, you drink milk and then you get the stomach problem.  That’s when I realized something was wrong with the milk in the US.  Furthermore, the Europeans wouldn’t touch our milk.  Now a days our milk is not only homogenized and pasteurized, but also full of hormones (including rBST) and antibiotics.  Below are some links/articles and a video about the benefits of raw milk.
